What is Felti nematodes?

Nematodes Steinerema feltiae are naturally occurring organisms in the soil. When introduced into soil, they actively search for the larvae of flies (sciarides), penetrate them, and release a symbiotic bacteria that removes the insect within a few days.

Where to use them?

Ideal for classic soil plants (Terreau Monstera, Universal Substrate etc).

Also suitable for mineral substrates such as:

• Lechuza Pon

• Perlite / Vermiculite

• Clay Bills (LECA)

Not suitable for pure hydroculture (plants in water without substrate).

Nematodes need a slightly moist substrate to move and act. They don't survive in the water alone.

1. Preparation:
Pour the contents of the bag into a full watering pan'clean water at room temperature – use the amount of water you usually use for your plants.

Why don't we specify a fixed volume of water to dilute the nematodes?

Because it simply depends on the number of plants to treat, and therefore the amount of water you use to water them.

Example If you have 5 plants and usually use 1 L water to water them, there is no need to dilute the nematodes in 5 L:

you would get a solution too diluted, so less concentrated... and potentially less effective.

Our advice dilucate the nematodes in the volume of water you usually use to water all your plants.

The more concentrated the solution, the more powerful it will be

Therefore we only indicate a maximum recommended volume:

• 5 million nematodes → to be diluted in large maximum 5 Water

• 10 million nematodes → to be diluted in maximum 10 Water

• 25 million nematodes → to be diluted in large maximum 25 Water

If you have few plants, you can absolutely pour the entire bag in 1 or 2 Water:

this will increase the effectiveness of the treatment without any risk to your plants.

Tip : choose the 10 million bag, even for few plants, guarantees you an even more effective concentration from the first application.

2. Mixture:
Stir for about 1 minute to distribute the nematodes well.

3. Watering:
Water directly the soil surface of all your plants and stir the solution regularly.

4. Frequency:
Repeat l'application monthly until'complete disappearance of the flies.

Tip: For effective treatment, keep the soil moist for two weeks after application.

It is important to complete the use of nematodes with yellow gluing traps.

These traps attract and capture adult flyers, which allows quickly break the reproductive cycle and effectively reduce their population.

Ideal conditions of use

Soil temperature: between 10°C and 25°C

Ideal time: in the evening or in cloudy weather (nematodes are sensitive to UV light)

Retention: until'to 1 week in a refrigerator (4–8°C). To be used quickly after receipt.
