About
The substrate that respects the true nature of your orchids
Your orchids deserve an environment that mimics their natural habitat. In nature, they never grow in the ground: their roots cling to trees, breathe the open air and absorb ambient humidity.
This premium orchid potting mix replicates these ideal conditions. Its ultra-draining structure allows air to circulate between the roots while maintaining balanced moisture. No more roots rotting in overly compacted soil.
Why choose this orchid substrate?
Optimal drainage: Maritime pine bark creates air pockets essential for root respiration.
Controlled hydration: The substrate retains just the right amount of water without ever saturating the roots.
Made in France: Raw materials selected and assembled in France for consistent quality.
Enriched with nutrients: Beneficial microorganisms stimulate vitality and promote abundant flowering.
Compatible with all varieties of orchids: Phalaenopsis, Dendrobium, Oncidium, Cattleya and many others.
Give your orchids the conditions they need to bloom again year after year.

Everything you need to know Premium Orchid Potting Soil, Orchid Substrate, Potting Soil for All Orchids 4L
What is the composition of this orchid potting mix?
This substrate combines French maritime pine bark, perlite for drainage and nutrients enriched with biostimulants.
This combination replicates the natural environment of epiphytic orchids: the bark provides stable and airy support, while the perlite prevents any water stagnation at the roots.
Use this substrate pure, without mixing it with regular potting soil which would compact the whole thing.
Avoid packing the soil too tightly when repotting to preserve the essential air pockets.
How do I use this substrate to repot my orchid?
Wait until the end of flowering before repotting. Gently remove the orchid from its pot and remove the old substrate by untangling the roots with your fingers.
A fresh substrate allows the roots to find a healthy environment, without accumulation of mineral salts or excessive decomposition.
Place the orchid in a pot that is only slightly larger, fill with the substrate without compressing it too much, and let it rest for a week before the first watering.
Do not repot an orchid in full bloom, it may lose its flowers prematurely.
Why do orchids need a specific substrate?
Orchids are mostly epiphytes: in nature, they live attached to trees, with their roots exposed to the air.
Their roots are covered with velamen, a spongy tissue that quickly absorbs ambient moisture but rots if kept in a constantly humid environment.
A conventional substrate retains too much water and deprives the roots of oxygen, causing them to degrade within a few weeks.
This orchid potting mix replicates epiphytic conditions with an open structure that allows air to circulate while maintaining slight humidity.
My orchid has soft, brown roots, what should I do?
Soft, brown roots indicate prolonged overwatering that has caused them to rot.
The suffocated roots can no longer absorb water or nutrients, which gradually weakens the entire plant.
Remove from pot immediately, cut off all soft parts with a disinfected tool, let the wounds dry for a few hours, then repot in this fresh and well-draining substrate.
Then wait 10 days before watering to allow the wounds to heal without risk of infection.
What products should be used with this orchid substrate?
Afine mist sprayerallows you to maintain moisture around the aerial roots without wetting the heart of the plant.
Orchids appreciate a humid atmosphere which compensates for the dryness of our interiors, especially in winter with heating.
Complete with ourliquid fertilizerdiluted to a quarter of the recommended dose, once a month during growth.
Never use fertilizer on a dry substrate, always water lightly beforehand to avoid burning the roots.
What's the difference between this and a universal potting mix for my orchids?
A universal potting mix is designed for terrestrial plants: it retains water and remains compact, which is fatal to orchids.
Orchid roots need air as much as water. In regular potting soil, they suffocate within a few weeks and begin to rot.
This orchid substrate offers an open structure with 70% drainage material, allowing the roots to dry quickly between waterings.
Even if your orchid seems to survive in regular potting soil, it will never be able to develop its full flowering potential there.
The essentials regarding Premium Orchid Potting Soil, Orchid Substrate, Potting Soil for All Orchids 4L
What is Premium Orchid substrate?
THEPremium Orchid SubstrateThis is a specially formulated growing mix designed to meet the specific needs of the most commonly grown indoor epiphytic and semi-terrestrial orchids. This 4L orchid potting mix is composed of a carefully selected blend of coarse and airy elements that replicate the natural growing conditions of orchids in high-altitude rainforests, where roots grow in the open air on tree bark. Its open, highly draining texture prevents root asphyxiation, the number one problem for orchids grown in ordinary pots.
Properties and role of the orchid substrate in cultivation
THEorchid substrateIt offers near-instant drainage of excess water while retaining just enough moisture to nourish aerial roots between waterings. Its open granules allow air to circulate freely, promoting root respiration essential for the health and regular flowering of Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, and Dendrobium orchids. This all-orchid mix is stable and decomposes slowly, providing 18 to 24 months of use before complete replacement.
Which plants benefit from the Premium Orchid substrate?
Phalaenopsis orchids and orchids in transparent pots:well-aerated photosynthetic roots
Cattleya and Oncidium:well-draining substrate for thick-rooted epiphytes
Dendrobium and Cambria:airy environment close to their natural bark habitat
Semi-terrestrial orchids:balanced blend of drainage and slight retention
Repotting after flowering:fresh substrate to stimulate root growth
Orchid substrate vs bark alone: what's the difference for your orchids?
Bark alone provides a base but lacks the essential elements needed to support an orchid throughout its entire growing season. Our Premium Orchid Substrate incorporates several carefully selected components that work together to offer drainage, aeration, and root support in a single, ready-to-use mix. Unlike a universal substrate that is too compact and too moist, this specialized blend respects the natural drying cycle of orchids and significantly reduces the risk of root rot.
