Everything you need to know about Mini Succulent Mix - 8 cm Pot - Height: 5–10 cm - Terracotta Pots
What light exposure for my Mini Mixed Succulents?
The Mini Succulent Mix needs bright, direct light to thrive indoors.
In their natural habitat, these plants grow in full sun in exposed semi-arid areas. In an apartment, choose a south- or west-facing window, where they will enjoy 4 to 6 hours of direct light each day. Such exposure allows them to maintain a compact shape and intense colors.
In summer, they also enjoy spending time outdoors, provided you gradually acclimate them to full sun to prevent leaf scorch. In winter, keep them as close as possible to the light source, as the days become considerably shorter.
Important tip 🌿A succulent placed too far from the light will quickly become leggy: its stems will stretch, its leaves will spread apart, and the plant will lose all its compact appeal. For low-light rooms, our grow light for indoor plants faithfully mimics natural light, without harmful UV rays.
Is the Mini Mixed Succulents set toxic to pets and children?
The Mini Succulent Mix has varying levels of toxicity depending on the plant genera included in the pack.
Most common succulents, such as Haworthia or Sedum, are considered non-toxic or only very mildly irritating. However, some genera that may be included in a mixed pack can be slightly toxic, particularly Euphorbia, whose white sap irritates the skin and mucous membranes, or certain Crassula, which can cause mild digestive upset in cats and dogs.
Because the composition of each pack varies, it is difficult to guarantee that all the genera included are completely harmless. If ingested by a pet or child, consult a veterinarian or doctor immediately.
What precautions should you take on a daily basis?
As a precaution, keep these succulents out of reach of young children and pets, for example on a high shelf or an inaccessible windowsill.
With proper placement, it is entirely possible to live safely with this succulent mix on a daily basis.
Why are the leaves of my Mini Mixed Succulents turning yellow?
The leaves of the Mini Succulent Mix most often turn yellow due to overwatering, a lack of light, or a nutrient deficiency.
If the leaves turn yellow and become soft, the problem is generally caused by too much water, which leads to the beginning of root rot.
If the leaves gradually turn yellow while remaining firm and dry, the plant is often lacking light or fertilizer.
If the yellowing is accompanied by small light-colored spots, a dull appearance, or fine webs, it may be a spider mite infestation, which is common indoors, especially in dry conditions.
Succulents naturally store water reserves in their fleshy leaves: when they are overwatered, their cells become engorged until they burst, which first results in yellowing and then in a characteristic softening of the lower leaves.
Important tip 🌿One or two old leaves turning yellow from time to time is completely normal. However, you should be concerned if several leaves turn yellow quickly or if the phenomenon spreads to the young leaves.
When and how should I repot my Mini Succulent Mix?
The Mini Succulent Mix is ideally repotted in spring, between March and May, when growth actively resumes.
Repotting is necessary when:
roots grow out through the drainage holes,
growth slows down,
or the substrate compacts too quickly after watering.
As a general rule, repotting every 2 years is sufficient for an adult plant.
As the succulents in this mix are delivered in 8 cm terracotta pots, an initial repotting into a slightly larger pot can be considered after just 1 to 2 years if the roots begin to protrude.
Choose a pot 2 to 3 cm wider than the old one, which must have drainage holes. Our clear pots with holes for observing roots after repotting are ideal: their transparency makes it easy to monitor root recovery without disturbing the plant.
Gently remove the plant from its pot, tapping the pot if necessary.
Gently untangle the roots if they are very compacted, without breaking them.
Place a layer of substrate, position the plant upright, and fill in without burying the crown.
Important tip 🌿After repotting, water to help settle the substrate. Repotting every two years is sufficient.
When and how should I fertilize my Mini Succulent Mix?
The Mini Succulent Mix should be fertilized every 2 to 3 weeks from March to October, using a liquid fertilizer diluted in the watering water.
From November to February, reduce fertilization significantly or stop it altogether. This is the plant's dormant period.
The right amount of fertilizer promotes:
denser, more colorful foliage,
steady growth,
and greater plant resilience.
As these miniature succulents are small and slow-growing, be sure to use half the dose recommended on the packaging: too much fertilizer can cause foliage imbalances and weaken the roots.
Important tip 🌿Never fertilize dry soil: this could burn the roots. Water first, then apply the fertilizer 2 to 3 days later.
How do I properly water my Mini Succulent Mix?
Water the Mini Succulent Mix when the soil has dried out thoroughly, approximately every 10 to 15 days in summer and every 20 to 30 days in winter. Use room-temperature water.
How do you know when to water?
The finger test remains the most reliable method: insert your index finger 2 to 3 cm into the soil. If the soil is dry, it is time to water.
Unlike most green plants, succulents store their water reserves directly in their fleshy leaves: they therefore tolerate several weeks without watering quite well, but cannot tolerate prolonged excess moisture.
Important tip: If in doubt, wait rather than watering. Plants tolerate a lack of water better than an excess, which causes the roots to rot.
How do I propagate my Mini Mixed Succulents?
The Mini Succulent Mix propagates very easily by separating leaves or taking stem cuttings, ideally in spring or early summer.
Leaf or stem propagationFor leaf propagation, carefully remove a whole leaf by gently twisting it at its base to detach it cleanly. For stem cuttings, use our stainless steel straight-tip pruning shears for a clean, sharp cut a few centimeters below the rosette.
Leave the cut or the base of the leaf to air-dry for 24 to 72 hours until a protective callus forms.
Important tip 🌿Rooting generally takes 3 to 8 weeks depending on the genus. The first sign of success is the appearance of small pink or white roots at the base of the leaf, followed by tiny rosettes forming spontaneously.
The essentials about Mini Succulent Mix - 8 cm Pot - Height: 5–10 cm - Terracotta Pots
Mini Succulent Mix: identity and origin
The Mini Succulent Mix is a set of 9 miniature succulents belonging to various genera such as Echeveria, Haworthia, Crassula or Sedum, originating mainly from the semi-arid regions of South Africa and Mexico. These plants are distinguished by their ability to store water in their fleshy leaf tissues, a biological adaptation that allows them to survive long periods of drought. Delivered in 8 cm terracotta pots, they measure between 5 and 10 cm upon delivery.
Succulent care: light, watering and substrate
Succulents need bright light, ideally direct, for at least 4 hours a day. Watering should be very infrequent: always wait until the highly draining mineral substrate is completely dry before watering again. We recommend our universal substrate enriched with beneficial fungi, designed to ensure optimal drainage and preserve the root health of succulents.
Where to place your succulents for compact and colorful growth?
South or west windowsill: ideal exposure, direct light for several hours a day.
Shelf near a window: graphic composition, several plants together.
Dark room: supplement with our full-spectrum grow light to compensate for the lack of natural light.
Frequently asked questions: why are my succulents stretching towards the light?
This phenomenon, called etiolation, is the natural response of succulents to a lack of direct light. When they do not receive enough light, they lengthen their stems and spread their leaves to capture as many photons as possible. To remedy this, move your plants closer to the sunniest window or supplement with a grow light. Upon delivery, allow the 9 succulents to acclimate for 2 to 3 weeks before considering a first repotting.
