About

Say goodbye to midges with Felti nematodes

Are you annoyed by those little flies buzzing around your plants? Their larvae, invisible in the substrate, nibble at the roots and weaken your plants.

Felti nematodes (Steinernema feltiae) are natural microorganisms that directly attack fungus gnat larvae in the soil. A biological, chemical-free solution, effective from the first application.

Why choose Felti nematodes?

  • Targeted action: The nematodes penetrate the larvae and eliminate them in 48 to 72 hours.
  • 100% natural: No chemicals, safe for your plants, pets and family.
  • Invisible and odorless: You simply water, the nematodes do the rest in the substrate.
  • Preventive and curative: Treat an infestation or anticipate seasonal problems.

Used by horticulture professionals, nematodes are the most effective biological control method against fungus gnats.

Give your plants a healthy substrate and rediscover the pleasure of a pest-free home.

Description

Biological control that eliminates invisible larvae

Our Felti (SF) nematodes arebeneficial natural microorganismswhich specifically target fungus gnat and midge larvae in the substrate. They act where traps cannot: below the surface.

Invisible and harmless to your plants, humans, and animals, they eliminate larvae by48 to 72 hoursafter application and protect the substrate for up to 6 weeks.

Benefits

  • Organic:100% natural, without synthetic chemicals

Use

Dilute the contents of the sachet in10L of non-chlorinated waterWater the potting mix of your infested plants immediately. Water again after...7 to 14 daysto treat new hatchings of larvae.

Recommendations

Yellow sticky traps: combine nematodes and traps to capture adults in flight simultaneously.Care Pack: complement the biological treatment with a foliage care routine.

Help and solutions:

Everything you need to know Felti Nematodes (SF) - Gnat Control - Fungus Gnat Control

How do Felti nematodes work against midges?

Steinernema feltiae nematodes are microscopic worms that actively hunt fungus gnat larvae in the substrate.

Once they come into contact with a larva, they penetrate it and release a symbiotic bacterium that kills it within 24 to 72 hours. The nematodes then multiply inside the dead larva before leaving to search for new prey.

Apply them as soon as the first adult midges appear, because it is the invisible larvae in the soil that cause the real damage to the roots.

Note: nematodes do not affect adult flying midges, only larvae. Allow 2 to 3 weeks for the midges to disappear completely.

How to properly apply nematodes for optimal results?

Dissolve the entire sachet in the indicated amount of water, at room temperature between 15 and 25°C. Cold or hot water kills nematodes.

This temperature is crucial because nematodes are living organisms sensitive to thermal shock. Mix gently to avoid damaging them and use the solution within one hour.

Water the substrate of all your plants generously, even those that appear healthy. Then keep the soil slightly moist for two weeks.

Avoid applying in direct sunlight or under an intense horticultural lamp, UV rays quickly destroy surface nematodes.

Are nematodes safe for my plants?

Felti nematodes are completely harmless to your plants, pets, and family.

These microorganisms are naturally present in all healthy soils. They exclusively target certain insect larvae through specific chemical receptors and have no effect on roots or plant tissues.

You can treat all your plants without exception: tropical plants, succulents, herbs, even fragile cuttings or seedlings.

Unlike chemical insecticides, nematodes leave no toxic residue and do not affect the beneficial microorganisms in your substrate.

I applied the nematodes but I still see gnats, is that normal?

Yes, that's perfectly normal during the first two weeks following treatment.

The nematodes only affect the larvae present in the substrate, not the adults already in flight. The midges you see are those that emerged before or just after treatment.

Their life cycle lasts approximately 3 weeks. Without new viable larvae, the population will naturally die out. Be patient and keep the substrate moist to keep the nematodes active.

If the midges persist after 3 weeks, repeat the application. A heavy infestation may require two treatments spaced 15 days apart.

Can I combine nematodes with other treatments?

Nematodes combine perfectly with other biological control methods for maximum effectiveness.

The sticky yellow traps capture the flying adults while the nematodes eliminate the larvae. This dual action significantly accelerates the eradication of the infestation.

However, avoid chemical treatments or black soap in watering for two weeks following application, as they could affect the nematodes.

To prevent recurrence, improve the drainage of your substrates withperliteand allow the surface to dry between waterings.

What is the difference between Felti nematodes and other midge control solutions?

Felti nematodes offer a radical solution where other methods only limit the problem.

Yellow traps capture adults but do not prevent larvae from developing. Sand on the surface hinders egg-laying but does not eliminate existing larvae. Chemical insecticides pollute your home and can stress your plants.

Nematodes attack the problem at its source: the larvae. They self-multiply in the substrate and continue their action for several weeks after application.

This is the method used by professional nurserymen, adapted here to a practical format for your houseplants.

The essentials regarding Felti Nematodes (SF) - Gnat Control - Fungus Gnat Control

How do Felti Nematodes act against fungus gnats?

THEFelti NematodesThese are microscopic, naturally occurring microorganisms of the species Steinernema feltiae, used in the biological control of fungus gnat larvae and other fungus gnats. These fungus gnat nematodes penetrate the larvae present in the substrate and eliminate them from within, without chemicals or risk to plants, humans, or pets. Their targeted action within the substrate perfectly complements the yellow sticky traps that intercept adult gnats in flight.

Composition and efficacy of Felti SF Nematodes

THEanti-midge nematodes Steinernema feltiaeThese products are applied by diluting them in room-temperature irrigation water and watering the infested substrate directly. They quickly colonize the root zone and reproduce naturally by targeting fungus gnat larvae for 4 to 6 weeks after application. For optimal results, the substrate temperature should be between 12 and 26 degrees Celsius during treatment, and the substrate should remain moist for 48 hours after application.

Which plants should be treated with Felti Nematodes?

  • Calathea and moist substrates:treatment of larvae in a cool and suitable environment
  • Monstera and large Araceae:Apply to the bottom of the pot on a moist substrate.
  • Orchids in fine substrate:preventative treatment against recurrent sciatica
  • Plants in soil or organic substrate:Natural biological control without residue
  • Any infested collection:comprehensive treatment to eliminate larvae en masse

Felti nematodes vs chemical insecticide: which is the best choice for fungus gnats?

A chemical insecticide acts on the surface and does not effectively reach the larvae buried deep in the substrate. Felti nematodes penetrate the substrate and actively seek out the larvae at all levels of the pot, providing a deep-penetrating action impossible with a contact product. To permanently get rid of fungus gnats without polluting your home, biological control with nematodes is the most targeted, natural, and effective long-term solution.
