What precautions should be taken on a daily basis?

It is advisable to place Saxifraga stolonifera on a high surface, out of reach of young children and curious pets, especially cats that could be attracted by the long hanging stolons.

With proper placement, cohabitation with pets and children remains entirely feasible and safe.

2. Gently untangle the roots if they are very compacted, without breaking them.

Saxifraga stolonifera is propagated by separating the plantlets carried by its stolons, ideally in spring or early summer, when the new plantlets have developed a few small, visible roots.

Stolon cutting methodThe simplest and most natural method is to take the plantlets growing at the end of the long reddish threads characteristic of the species. Once a plantlet has 2 to 3 well-formed leaves and root primordia, cleanly cut the stolon connecting the plantlet to the mother plant using our straight-tip scissors for a clean cut, which limits any risk of tearing and promotes rapid rooting.

1. Locate a well-developed plantlet on a stolon of the mother plant, with visible root primordia at its base.
2. Cut the stolon 1 cm below the plantlet and place it in our clear pots to monitor rooting, which allows you to follow the root development without disturbing the cutting.
3. Keep the cutting in a slightly moist substrate, in a bright place but out of direct sunlight, at a stable temperature around 18 to 22°C.
