About
Giant Spathiphyllum: the large-format peace lily
The giant Spathiphyllum, also known as the peace lily, brings together three large horticultural varieties from the Araceae family. Its large, dark green, glossy, lance-shaped leaves grow in a dense clump from the root ball and frame long white spathes that turn green as they age. This XL size, measuring 80 to 110 cm, sits directly on the floor and dresses up a living room corner, a bright entrance, or an office. Choose the variety according to the desired height.
Flowering: white spathes above the foliage, mainly in spring and summer.
Light: bright and indirect; tolerates partial shade but flowers less so.
Watering: keep the soil consistently slightly moist, never waterlogged.
Pets: toxic to cats and dogs (calcium oxalates, according to the ASPCA).
Location: living room, office, or bedroom, away from direct sunlight and radiators.
Packaging, 3 varieties to choose from: 'Sweet Sebastiano' in a 24 cm pot, height 110 cm; 'Bellini' in a 24 cm pot, height 100 cm; 'Sweet Silvana' in a 24 cm pot, height 80 cm. Without decorative pot.
A spectacular peace lily, grown and shipped by our partner grower.

Everything you need to know about Giant Peace Lily - Moonflower - 24cm Pot
Is the giant peace lily toxic to cats and dogs?
Yes, the giant peace lily is toxic to cats and dogs. The ASPCA classifies the peace lily as a toxic plant because its tissues contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. Chewing the leaves causes mouth irritation, excessive drooling, difficulty swallowing, and sometimes vomiting. Keep the plant out of reach of animals that chew on leaves and contact your veterinarian if ingested.
How tall can a giant peace lily grow?
A giant Spathiphyllum reaches approximately 80 cm to 1.2 m in height depending on the variety, with a width close to its height. The plants offered already measure 110 cm for 'Sweet Sebastiano', 100 cm for 'Bellini' and 80 cm for 'Sweet Silvana', in 24 cm pots. They are therefore close to their adult size. The clump then continues to mainly thicken with new shoots in the center, rather than growing in height.
How often should I water a giant peace lily?
Water a giant peace lily when the top 2 centimeters of soil are dry, which is about once a week in summer and every 10 to 15 days in winter. Pour room-temperature water until it drains out the bottom, then empty the saucer. The plant will let you know when it needs water: its leaves will droop and then perk up after watering. Try not to let it reach this stage too often, and never leave it sitting in water.
Can the giant peace lily tolerate low light?
The giant peace lily tolerates moderately lit rooms, but it rarely flowers there. To maintain beautiful foliage and regular white spathes, place it 1 to 2 m from an east or west-facing window, or set back from a south-facing bay window with a sheer curtain. Direct midday sun should be avoided, as it burns the large leaves in a few hours. In a dark hallway, it survives but slowly becomes spindly.
Why are the leaves of my giant peace lily turning yellow?
The leaves of a giant Spathiphyllum most often turn yellow due to overwatering: the soil remains waterlogged and the roots suffocate. Let the surface dry between waterings and always empty the saucer. One or two old yellow leaves at the base are normal, however, and should be cut off flush. Brown tips rather indicate air that is too dry, very hard water, or an excess of fertilizer.
When and how to repot a giant peace lily?
A giant peace lily should be repotted about every 2 years, in spring, when roots start growing out of the bottom of the pot. Choose a pot that is 3 to 4 cm wider, with drainage, and use a rich, lightweight potting mix. This is also a good time to divide a clump that has become too dense: separate it into two or three pieces, each with roots and several leaves, then repot them separately. Water thoroughly and keep the plant out of direct sunlight for a few weeks.
Which variety of giant peace lily should I choose for my home?
Choosing a giant Spathiphyllum depends mainly on the space available, as the three varieties share the same 24 cm pot and care requirements. 'Sweet Sebastiano', at 110 cm, is the largest and is suitable for a large living room or a corner under a high ceiling. 'Bellini', at 100 cm, is a versatile medium option. 'Sweet Silvana', at 80 cm, is better suited to an office, bedroom, or smaller space.
The essentials about Giant Peace Lily - Moonflower - 24cm Pot
Giant Spathiphyllum: characteristics and benefits
The Spathiphyllum belongs to the Araceae family, like the Monstera and Anthurium. The Spathiphyllum genus comprises around fifty species, almost all originating from the humid forests of tropical America, with a few growing in the Philippines and New Guinea. The 'Sweet Sebastiano', 'Bellini' and 'Sweet Silvana' varieties are large-scale horticultural selections, bred for their broad foliage and generous growth habit. What looks like a flower is a spathe, a white bract that surrounds the spadix, the spike bearing the true tiny flowers. After a few weeks, the spathe turns green and then dries. Evergreen and without a woody stem, the Spathiphyllum renews itself from the centre of the clump.
Where to place the giant Spathiphyllum? Light and location
The giant Spathiphyllum likes bright but filtered light. An east- or west-facing living room, a bright entrance hall or an office near a window will suit it very well. It tolerates a darker room, but it will flower little. Avoid south-facing windows without curtains and the heat of a radiator. With its height of 80 to 110 cm, it is placed on the floor, alone or in a pair with another variety from our Spathiphyllum collection.
How to care for the giant Spathiphyllum?
Watering: as soon as the top 2 cm of soil is dry, without leaving water in the saucer.
Light: bright and indirect for flowering, never scorching sun.
Temperature: 18 to 27 °C, never below 15 °C.
Humidity: 50% or more, leaves dusted regularly.
Fertiliser: flowering plant fertiliser once a month from April to September.
Why is my giant Spathiphyllum no longer flowering?
A giant Spathiphyllum that no longer flowers almost always lacks light. Move it closer to a bright window, without direct sunlight. A pot that has become too small, exhausted soil or a lack of fertiliser in spring also hinder flowering: repot and feed lightly from April to September. Finally, a very young plant or one that has just been divided takes a few months to flower again. If the leaves are also turning yellow, check that the soil does not remain waterlogged.
