This substrate combines pumice, maritime pine bark, coconut chips and perlite, enriched with mycorrhizae and Bacillus.
Each component plays a specific role: pumice and perlite ensure drainage, bark provides the slight acidity appreciated by Anthurium, and coconut chips retain just the right amount of moisture.
Use this substrate pure, without adding garden soil which would compact the mixture.
Avoid mixing it with regular potting soil, you would lose its drainage properties which are essential for this epiphytic plant.
How do I repot my Anthurium with this substrate?
Repot in spring, when the roots are growing out of the pot or circling. This is the best time to encourage active foliage growth throughout the season.
Choose a pot that is only one centimeter wider, and always has drainage holes.
Gently untangle the roots, remove the old substrate without forcing it, and place the plant without burying the crown. Roots that are well-exposed and properly positioned in our well-draining substrate will quickly resume their role of nourishing each new leaf growth.
Do not water heavily immediately after repotting: wait a few days for the roots to heal before resuming normal watering. A gentle re-establishment ensures healthy and vigorous foliage in the first few weeks after repotting.
